DRAFT design principles for Bald Hill have been uploaded to Wollongong City Council’s collaborative map (www.collaborativemap.org/baldhill) with a second community engagement workshop scheduled for Friday, June 22.
Council’s design consultants, ARUP, will convene the workshop, which will work with community representatives to refine the design principles and review potential layouts for the site.
Ward 1 councillor Leigh Colacino hoped more community members would get involved in the process.
“If you’ve got something to say about Bald Hill, please register to attend the design session,” he said, adding that participants need not have attended the first workshop.
“After the first round of engagement in May, it was clear that people wanted changes to protect the views, be visually low key, recognise the aviation history of the site and the beach below, resolve parking and access, and provide clean, accessible toilets,” he said.
“Since May, the consultants have taken this information, developed a set of draft design principles and held discussions with a number of third parties, including Roads and Maritime Services.”
Cr Colacino said those interested in attending the three-hour charrette should phone 1800 657 248 or email baldhillmasterplan@arup.com
An information kiosk will be set up outside Bi-Lo in Helensburgh on Saturday, June 23, between 10am and noon while the draft design concepts will be online from June 25 for two weeks.
